Alvin Yu, PT, DPT

Alvin grew up in San Gabriel, CA and received his Bachelors degree in Biology at the University of California, Irvine in 2006. He continued his education by completing a Master’s in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science from California State University, Long Beach in 2013. During his time at UC Irvine and Long Beach State, he was an integral part in researching the effects of long term microgravity on skeletal muscle as well as developing a combined resistive and aerobic exercise device for astronaut use during long term space flight and the eventual mission to Mars.

Alvin received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of California, San Francisco/San Francisco State University in 2017. He has strong interests in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation and manual therapy techniques. Alvin is certified in myofascial decompression therapy (functional cupping), Functional Movement Techniques (kinesiology taping) through Rock Tape, and has experience utilizing Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT). His goal is to provide quality care with emphasis on patient education, building strong patient rapport and continuing to be a life long learner in the field of physical therapy.

Alvin has also coached high school and college club volleyball. He enjoys cooking, playing indoor/beach volleyball, basketball, climbing, road cycling, and tending to his vegetable garden during his free time.
