Dean Takiguchi, PT, MPT, OCS
Dean was born and raised in Hawaii and left the islands to pursue his higher educational endeavors. He was a Mechanical Engineering major for three years at the University of California, Irvine before transferring to California State University, Fullerton and eventually graduating with a BS in Physical Education with emphasis in Sports Medicine in 1989. He later attended the University of California, San Francisco where he obtained his Master of Physical Therapy degree in 1993. Dean has worked primarily in the Orthopedic and Sports Rehabilitation setting and also has extensive training in manual therapy techniques. In 2007, he received his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) distinction after completing a year-long Manual Therapy Program in 2006. His areas of specialty include treatment of the cervical and lumbar spine, shoulder, knee and foot. Dean is a life-long learner and continues to challenge himself by learning new skills and novel approaches to rehabilitation. He has recently taken a great interest in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) and has incorporated these powerful techniques and exercises into his treatment arsenal.
In his free time, Dean can be found pursuing his passion for fitness and exercise including doing Pilates and Spin classes, yoga and traditional weight training. He also enjoys spending time with his wife at the beach, playing Mahjong with friends, watching college football and listening to Huberman Lab podcasts on neuroscience and brain research. On Sundays, he can usually be found serving at Crossroads Community Church in Mission Viejo.
